Daniel Memmert is a Professor and Executive Head of the Institute of Exercise Training and Sport Informatics at the German Sport University Cologne. He is one of the world’s leading experts in sport science, combining movement science, sport psychology, and computer science in sports, with a focus on cognition, attention, motivation, big data, and pattern recognition. His last book is Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning in Sports Science, issued in 2025 by Berlin: Springer-Verlag.

According to Elsevier’s global database of the world’s top 100,000 scientists, he ranks #1 in Germany in “Sport Science” and #8 worldwide in “Sports Science/Experimental Psychology.” He has an H-index of 65, has secured over 10 million Euros in research funding, and has led multiple projects.

Prof. Memmert has published more than 300 peer-reviewed articles, 40 books, and 40 book chapters, and serves on leading international editorial boards. Since 2023 he is Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Applied Sport Exercise Psychology and from 2025 Executive Editor of the Journal of Sport Science.

His institute cooperates closely with Bundesliga clubs, the German national soccer team, and leading companies, and coordinates the first international Master’s degree in Match Analysis. He also holds coaching licenses in soccer, tennis, snowboarding, and alpine skiing.
